15. Grade VI comprises a small number of minor appointments not obtained by exami- nation. Holders of these appointments who obtain the qualifying percentage of marks at one of the half-yearly examinations, will be offered appointments in Grade V according to the order in which they appear on the list. Paras. 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 of this noti- fication do not apply to Clerks holding these appointments who qualify or attempt to qualify for a higher grade. If they fail to pass the examination they will remain in their previous position and if they fail to give satisfaction in their new appointment they will revert to their previous position.

16. Appointments to clerkships in higher grades than Grade V will as heretofore be made by selection and, except in special cases, from Clerks in the Service at the time the vacancies occur.
