Saigon.

THE following has been received from Saigon :--

Translation.

MODIFICATION OF THE LIGHTING OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE SAIGON RIVER.

Navigators are informed that the amelioration of the lighting of the entrance to the Saigon River consists of the addition of two supplementary lights and a modification of the sector of the Cangiou Aval Light.

DETAILS.

The first of these lights is erected on Ganh Ray Point, at the Lazaret point named Ambulance" on Chart No. 5428 (1912 edition), close to the mouth of the Rach Song

Dinh.

DESCRIPTION.

The light will be RED, FIXED, showing through a sector of 72°. Visible 5 miles in clear weather. It will be exhibited from a metal trellissed standard, painted white, to the summit of which the lantern will be hoisted.

Position :--

Latitude 10° 23′ 09′′ N.

Longitude 107° 03′ 09′′.07 E. of Greenwich.

The second light is erected on Pointe du Rach,

shown on Chart No. 5074 (1898 edition, sheet 1) under the name of Rach Cai-Gou— the first Rach on the port hand entering the river after passing the Red Light on Cangiou Amont, named the Red Light of Bayen."

DESCRIPTION.

The light will be GREEN, FIXED, visible all round in clear weather to a distance of four miles.

Position:

Latitude 10° 28′ 33′′ N.

Longitude 106° 56′ 09" E. of Greenwich.

The light will be exhibited from a metal trellissed standard, painted white, to the summit of which the lantern will be hoisted.

CANGIOU AMONT WHITE LIGHT.

The light sector of this light is to be modified as follows:-

The sector will be one of 210° instead of 235°, 7° being cut off on the North and 18° on the South. It will no longer cover the shoal water of the Banc du Phare.
