3. The quarterly rates of exchange mentioned in the preceding Article are the rates determining the comparative values, as entered in the quarterly Tables published by the Japanese Department of Finance, of the present Japanese silver yen on the one hand, and of the English pound sterling on the

other.

4. The present Convention shall have the same duration as the Treaty and Protocol concluded on the 16th of July, 1894, of which it is a complement.

5. The present Convention shall be ratified, and the ratifications shall be exchanged at Tôkió as soon as possible, and not later than six months from the present date.

Done at Tôkiô, in duplicate, this 16th day of July, 1895.
