NORTH CHANNEL ENTRANCE TO THE YANGTZE.
DRINKWATER POINT LIGHTHOUSE.
Notice is hereby given that the Light at Drinkwater Point was exhibited for the first time at sunset on the 15th instant. The illuminating apparatus is Dioptric, Group-flashing, of the Fourth Order, showing double white flashes at intervals of 20 seconds.
The Lighthouse stands 995 feet N. 45° W. from the site of the Drinkwater Point Beacon, and the Light, which is elevated 89 feet above the level of the sca, should be visible in clear weather at a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The tower is an iron screw pile structure, 80 feet high, with a total height from the base to the lantern vane of 931 fect. The tower is painted in alternate black and white horizontal bands.
