LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS, No. 98.

For prevention of collision in Kimpai Pass.

ALL steamers entering or leaving the Port when nearing the Kimpai Pass from either end shall herald their approach by one long blast of their whistle, and if there is a reasonable probability of their meeting in the Pass, the steamer going with the tide shall have the right to pass through first. The one going against the tide shall slow or stop to allow of the other getting through before she attempts to do so.

CHINA SEA.

YANGTZE RIVER-ICHANG DISTRICT.

TEMPORARY BUOYAGE OF ITU ROCKS.

From it the rock bears

NOTICE is hereby given that a 4-foot Nun Buoy, painted red and surmounted by a black diamond shape, has been placed to mark the Itu Middle Rock. N. 85° E., distant 50 yards.

Also that a similar Buoy, painted re / and surmounted by a black spherical shape, has been placed to mark the Itu Lower Rock. From it the rock bears N. 53° E., distant 200 yards.

These Buoys will be maintained in position during low river season.

All bearings given are magnetic.

Dove Rock Buoy Adrift.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Dove Rock Whistling Buoy broke adrift from its

moorings during the gale of the 15th instant.

The Buoy will be replaced as soon as practicable.
