GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.—No. 689.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Captain E. G. WAYMOUTH, Royal Artillery, to be Adjutant to the Hongkong Volunteer Corps during the absence on leave of Captain W. ST. C. BLAND, R.A., or until further notice, with effect from the 23rd instant.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.- No. 691.

Notice is hereby given that Messrs. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME, of Mülheim-on-the-Rhine, Germany, have complied with the requirements of Ordinance 18 of 1898, for the registration in this Colony of their Mark as applied to Wire covered with India-Rubber or Gutta-percha; wire fencing, wire seeves and articles of wire gauze not included in other classes; wire, steel wire, iron wire, telegraph wire, wire for telegraph cables and spelter; cordage, rope and twine, in Classes 40, 13, 5 and 50; and that the same has been duly registered.

From the Commandant, Hongkong Volunteer Corps, to the D. A. A. General (a)

and C. S. Officer, China.

With reference to your memo. dated 9th November, 1899, I have the honour to forward the following report :—

1. Numbers-Out of a total strength of 24 Officers, 282 N. C. Officers and Men, and 11 unenrolled Boys, 21 Officers, 241 N. C. Officers and Men, and 10 Boys attended. the Camp of Instruction, for periods varying from 1 to 10 days, between the dates 20th to 30th October, 1899.

Conduct. The behaviour in Camp was all that could be desired. The attendance at drills

was good throughout, and thorough attention paid to the instruction given.
