NOTICE TO MARINERS.

A Red Can Buoy with Red Staff and Globe has been placed on the Abana Rock (a coral patch in the southern approach to Labuan) on its shallowest part.

This shoal extends approximately from the Buoy

The shoal gradually slopes from the Buoy on all sides except towards the west, where the water deepens suddenly, The Bearings from the Buoy are:--

Eastern extreme of Great Rusukan with Bwong Island half closed in, Pelong Rocks, Polompong Point,

Depth at low water 4 fathoms.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.-No. 584.

Tenders will be received at this Office until Noon of Tuesday, the 31st October, 1899, for execu- tion of certain sewerage works at Tai Hang Village.

No work will be permitted on Sundays.

For form of tender, specification and further particulars apply at the Public Works Office. The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.-- No. 585.

Tenders will be received at this Office until Noon of Monday, the 6th day of November, 1899, for the erection of an Iron Pier opposite the foot of Pedder Street.

For form of tender, specification and further particulars apply at the Praya Reclamation Office. No tender will be received unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $100, as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person refuses to carry out his tender, should the tender be accepted.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
