the following Ordinance passed by the Legislative Council:---

Shanghai Bank Ordinance, 1899.

WHEREAS it is expedient that the power of issuing bills and notes in excess of its paid-up capital which was con- ferred for the period of one year from the 31st day of July, 1898, upon the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corpo- ration, under certain conditions, by section 3 of Ordinance 1 of 1899, should be continued, under the same condi- tious, for the period of one year from the 31st day of July, 1899:
Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
1. This Bill may be cited as the Hongkong and Shanghai Short title. Bank Excess of Note Issue Ordinance, 1899.
2. All the provisions of section 3 of Ordinance 1 of 1899 are hereby continued for the period of one year from the 31st day of July, 1899.
