APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 627. His Majesty the KING has been pleased to approve the re-appointment of the Honourable Sir SHOUSON CHOW, Kt., to be an Unofficial Member of the Executive Council for a further period of five years, with effect from 9th July, 1931.

1st October, 1931.

No. 628.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following transfer in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps :-

Major SAMUEL JOHNSON JORDAIN, M.C., to be transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 1st October, 1931.

THE MAGISTRACY.

No. 630.-By command of His Excellency the Governor, and pursuant to section 10 of the Liquors Consolidation Ordinance, 1911, Ordinance No. 9 of 1911, an Election by the Justices of the Peace of a Justice of the Peace to serve on the Licensing Board for three years, vice Dr. WILFred Vincent MILLER KOCH who has resigned from his office will take place in the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, the 14th day of October, 1931, commencing at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

The election will be conducted in accordance with the Rules set forth on pages 438- 440 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1884-1925.

Forms of nomination may be obtained at the Magistracy, Victoria, Hong Kong. Every nomination must be delivered to the undersigned not less than six clear days. before the day fixed for the election.

The only persons entitled to vote at the election are the unofficial Justices of the Peace.

Voting will commence at 4 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m. when the ballot-box will be closed.
