Regulation made by the Governor in Council under section 5 (1) of the Prospecting and Mining Ordinance, 1906, Ordinance No. 7 of 1906, on the 31st day of August, 1931.
The regulations relating to prospecting and mining set forth on pages 327-357 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1814-1925, in so far as they fix fees and rents and royal- ties shall not apply to the following,-
(a) earth or mud.
(b) sand.
(c) clay of any kind whatsoever.
(d) granite.
(e) limestone.

Regulation made by the Governor in Council under section 266 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, Ordinance No. 1 of 1 03, on the 31st day of August,
1931.
Schedule J to the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, is hereby amended as follows:-
(1) by the insertion, next after regulation 4, of the following regulation,
4A. Any permit for the obtaining of sand may be limited to the collec-
tion of a stated quantity.
(2) by the insertion, next after regulation 9 and above the note to the regulations relating to earth cutting, &c., contained in the said Schedule J, of the follow- ing regulations, —
10. The charges to be made in respect of each and every permit granted by the Director of Public Works under these regulations shall be determined by him in each case.
11. As regards the New Territories, except New Kowloon, these regula-
tions shall be read and construed as if the words " District Officer appeared instead of the words "Director of Public Works".
