EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.

Hong Kong.

No. 288.

Rule muude by the Governor in Council under section 18 of the Prisons Ordinance, 1899, Ordinance No. 4 of 1899, on the 7th day of May, 1931.

The dietaries contained in the Prison Rules and set forth on pages 247-257 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1814-1925, are hereby rescinded and the following dietaries, are substituted therefor:

DIETARIES.

The diets of prisoners shall be in accordance with the following scales and instruc- tions:-

The terms to which the diets for prisoners shall be severally applied shall be those set forth in the following Table :-

TERM.

CLASS 1.

CLASS 2.

European

Three months or under...

Over three months

Whole term.

Three months.

Remainder of term.

Six months or under.......

Chinese and Indians

Over six months

Remainder of term.

NOTE: A European prisoner sentenced to imprisonment for two years and upwards, and in the first class under the progressive stage system, shall be allowed 8 ozs, of chicken for dinner on Sundays, in addition to the prescribed diet.

INGREDIENTS AND INSTRUCTIONS.

Each pint to contain 4 ozs of meat without bone. 1 oz. onions, 1 oz. barley, 4 ozs. greens, yams, sweet potatoes or taro, with pepper and salt.

Each pint to contain 2 ozs. oatmeal. I oz. molasses, with salt.

Gruel

Cocoa

Each pint to contain 2 oz. flake cocoa or nibs, 4 oz. sugar and 2 ozs. milk.

Tea

Each pint to contain 3 oz. tea, 2 oz. sugar and 2 ozs. milk.

Curry Stuff...Chillies 3 drs., pepper 1 drs., turmeric dr., corriander seed dr.,

cumin seed dr. and oil! oz.
