The following notices have been issued by Mr. F. G. FIGG during the month :-

On the 7th at 12.05 p.-" The depression lying over the N. part of the Sea of Japan yesterday, has moved into the Pacific. The barometer has fallen again over China, parti- cularly in the North. Probably another depression has appeared over S. Manchuria. Pressure is highest between the E. Coast of China and W. Japan. It is low, apparently, to the South of the Philippine Archipelago. Gradients are slight to moderate, and moderate monsoon may be expected in the Formosa Channel, and fresh monsoon over the N. the China Sea." Forecast:-"X.E. winds, moderate to light; fine."

On the 8th at 11.50 a. -“The barometer has fallen over Japan, and risen in N. China. The depression lying over E. Manchuria yesterday, is moving into the Pacific to the North of Hokkaido. Pressure is highest over the Yangtze. It remains low to the South of the Philippine Archipelago. Fresh monsoon may be expected in the Formosa Channel, and strong monsoon over the China Sea.” Forecast:- "N.E. winds, moderate; fine."

On the 9th at 11.55 a.- "The barometer has risen over China and Japan. A high pressure area lies over the continent to the North of the Yangtze, and pressure remains low to the Southeast of the Philippine Archipelago. Gradients are rather steep in the South, and hard monsoon may be expected in the Formosa Channel and the China Sea." Forecast:- "N. winds, freshening; fine."
