It is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor in Council has given directions for the rescission of the Order of the 28th August, 1919, published as Government Notification No. 392 in the Gazette Extraordinary of the same date, pro- claiming Weihaiwei to be a place at which an infectious or contagious disease prevailed, and the same is hereby rescinded.

APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 473.-Ilis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. HAROLD KENNARD HOLMES to be a Justice of the Peace for the Colony of Hongkong.

7th October, 1919.

No. 474.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. THOMAS WILLIAM AINSWORTH, Passed Cadet, to act as Second Assistant to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs and as Deputy Registrar of Marriages, with effect from the 30th September, 1919.

8th October, 1919.

No. 475.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under Sub- section 1 of Section 2 of the Pilots Ordinance, 1904, Ordinance No. 3 of 1904, Mr. ARTHUR WILLIAM HERON to be a Member of the Pilotage Board, during the absence from the Colony of Mr. HENRY NEAVE.

No. 476.-It is hereby notified that the Governor in Council having decided that the resumption of the property registered in the District Office, South, as Survey District IV Lot No. 2551 is required for a public purpose and private negotiations for the pur- chase thereof having, in the opinion of the Governor failed, the said property and all rights easements and appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaining will be resumed by the Crown on the expiration of four months from the publication of this notice and
