SIR,—I have the honour to transmit for your information a copy of a note from the Danish Minister to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs intimating that the Danish Government have recognised Iceland as a Sovereign State, and notifying the colours of the flag of the new Government.

D'ordre de mon Gouvernement j'ai l'honneur de communiquer au Gouvernement de Sa Majesté Britannique que le Gouvernement du Roi conformément à la loi fédérale du 30 Novembre, 1918, votée par les parlements du Danemark et de l'Islande, vient de ́· reconnaitre l'Islande comme un Etat Souverain.
Le Danemark et l'Islande sont réunis sous un même Sceptre et Sa Majesté le Roi a adopté dans son titre les dénominations des deux Etats. Le Danemark gère les affaires étrangères pour l'Islande qui se déclare perpétuellement neutre.
Le pavillon du Gouvernement de l'Islande se compose d'un champ d'azur partage par une croix rouge dans une croix blanche. Ce pavillon est à pointe. Le pavillon marchand est le même mais carré sans pointe.
L'Islande n'a pas de pavillon de guerre.

SIR, I have the honour to inform you that His Majesty's Government have decided to recognise the independence of Finland, and to enter into formal relations. with the present Finnish Government.
2. A similar decision has been arrived at by the Governments of the United States of America and France.
