No. 303. It is hereby notified that His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government in Council has, under Section 7 of the Holidays Ordinance, 1912, Ordi- nance No. 5 of 1912, appointed Saturday, the 19th day of July, 1919, to be observed as a General Holiday.

APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 304. The King's Exequatur empowering Cavalieri EMILIO ELES to act as Consul for Italy in Hongkong has received His Majesty's signature.

No. 305.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has accepted with regret the resignation by Captain WILLIAM MURRAY SCOTT of his Commission in the Hongkong Defence Corps, with effect from the 8th July, 1919.

9th July, 1919.

No. 306.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint the Honourable Mr. EDWARD VICTOR DAVID PARR and Mr. GEOFFREY CHARLES MOXON to be Members of the Recreation Grounds Committee, as representatives of the Royal Hongkong Golf Club and the Hongkong Jockey Club respectively, vice the Honourable Mr. DAVID LANDALE and Mr. THOMAS FREDERICK HOUGH.

No. 307.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Inspector MARTIN EARNER to be an Examiner of Weights and Measures under the Weights and Measures Ordinance, 1885, section 4, and also an Inspector under the Gunpowder and Fireworks Ordinance, 1901, section 14, vice the late Inspector ALBERT TERRETT, with effect from the 10th July, 1919.

No. 308. His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to authorise Inspector MARTIN EARNER to act under the Dangerous Goods Ordi- nance, 1873, section 11 (1), vice the late Inspector ALBERT TERRETT, with effect from the 10th July, 1919.

No. 309. His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased, provisionally and pending the receipt of instructions from His Majesty's Govern- ment, to recognise Mr. GUNNAR LUDIN as Honorary Vice-Consul for Sweden in Hongkong.

No. 310.--With reference to Government Notification No. 292 of 3rd July, 1919, the following telegram from His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, dated the 5th July, 1919, is published for general information:

"Your telegram of June 27.--Community of Hongkong desire me to express their respectful congratulations to His Majesty the KING and to thank His Majesty for his gracious message on the signing of the Treaty of Peace.'
