The following gracious message from His Majesty the KING has also been received:
"The signing of the Treaty of Peace will be received with deep thankfulness throughout the British Empire. This formal act brings to its conclud- ing stages the terrible war which has devastated Europe and distracted the world. It manifests the victory of the ideals of freedom and liberty for which we have made untold sacrifices. I share my people's joy and and thanksgiving and earnestly pray that the coming years of peace may bring to them ever increasing happiness and prosperity."
An announcement will be made to both Houses of Parliament to-day regarding the Peace celebrations. It is proposed to hold the celebrations in the United Kingdom on Saturday the 2nd August and the three following days; Saturday to be devoted to a military pageant; Sunday to special religious services; Monday to a Naval display on the Thames in special recognition of the services of the Navy and the Mercantile Marine; Tuesday to be a children's or a general rejoicing day.
