section 6 (1) of Ordi-

nance No. 8

of 1916.

Repeal of Ordinance No. 5 of 1889, and Ordinance No. 2 of 1896.

An Ordinance to amend further the Trading with the Enemy Ordinances, 1914 to 1916.

[21st June, 1919.]

BE it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Trading with the Enemy Amendment Ordinance, 1919.

2. Sub-section (1) of section 6 of the Trading with the Enemy Amendment Ordinance, 1916, is hereby repealed and the following sub-section is hereby substituted there- for, namely:-

Power of Governor to vest enemy property in Custodian.

6-(1.) The Governor, in any case where it appears to him to be expedient to do so, may by order vest in the Custodian under the Trading with the Enemy Second Amendment Ordinance, 1915, any pro- perty, movable or immovable (including any rights, whether legal or equitable, in or arising out of property, movable or immovable), belonging to or held or man- aged for and on behalf of an enemy or enemy subject, or any Mission or Mission- ary Society (whether incorporated by any Ordinance or otherwise) which is in his (the Governor's) opinion one of enemy association or is one the determination of whose activities is for the security of Colonial or Imperial interests required, or the right to transfer that property, and may by any such order, or any subsequent order, confer on the Custodian such powers of selling, managing and otherwise dealing with the property as to the Governor seem proper, including the power to execute, vary or determine any trust affecting the whole or any part of such property.

3. The Berlin Ladies Mission Incorporation Ordi- nance, 1889, and the Basel Missionary Society Incor- poration Ordinance, 1896, are hereby repealed.
