Importation of Private Effects into the United Kingdom.

No. 118. It is hereby notified for general information that private effects consist- ing of or containing articles prohibited for importation into the United Kingdom are not exempt from the necessity of obtaining Import Licences.

Among the articles so prohibited are the following:-

Apparel, not waterproofed,

Bone, horn, ivory and celluloid, manufactures of,

Books and printed matter,

Boots and shoes,

Carpets and rugs,

Chinaware,

Cloisonné wares,

Curios,

Embroidery and needlework,

Feathers, ornamental,

Furniture,

Glassware,

Gold and articles containing gold,

Guns, carbines, and rifles,

Hats and bonnets,

Jewellery,

Lacquered wares,

Motor vehicles and parts (except tyres),

Musical instruments, parts and accessories,

Plated and gilt wares,

Sewing machines,

Silk, manufactures of,

Silver, manufactures of,

Skins and furs, manufactures of,

Sugar, Tea,

Tobacco of all kinds,

* Works of art.

Applications for licences should be made in London to the Department of Import Restrictions which will deal with them strictly on their merits.

2. The Superintendent of Imports and Exports will, on production of the necessary evidence and payment of a fee of $2.00, certify to the private nature of any given con- signment of such effects. When such a certificate is desired the export application must be made in triplicate.

SUPREME COURT.

No. 119. It is hereby notified for general information that, pursuant to Section 5 of the Criminal Procedure Ordinances, 1899-1913, His Honour the Chief Justice has ordered that the next Criminal Sessions for the despatch of the business of the Court shall be held on Wednesday, the 19th day of March, 1919, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon.
