No. 56.-Instructions have been received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies to the effect that the system of Priority Recommendations notified in Gazette Notification No. 227 of the 18th May, 1917, is no longer required as British manufac- turers are now at liberty to proceed with orders without Priority Permits.
The Board of Trade will give assistance in any cases in which difficulties are expe- rienced in placing or in execution of orders in the United Kingdom for machinery required for essential Colonial Industries.
Applications for assistance of the latter kind should be made to the Superintendent of Imports and Exports.

SUPREME COURT.
No. 57.-The Offices of the Supreme Court will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Chinese New Year Vacation, except on Public and General Holidays, when the offices will be entirely closed, subject, however, to the provisions of section 5 of the Supreme Court (Vacations) Ordinance, 1898, so far as it relates to the Criminal Sessions. The Chinese New Year Vacation commences on the 1st February and termi- nates on the 5th February, 1919, (both days inclusive).
