NOTICE OF FIRING PRACTICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DEFENCES (FIRING AREAS) ORDINANCE, 1936.

1. Light gun firing practice will be carried out between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 12 midnight on 18th and 19th December, 1939.

Firing Area"

E" will be affected.

2. Anti-aircraft firing practice will be carried out between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4 p.m. on 19th, 20th and 21st December, 1939.

Firing Area "B" will be affected.

3. Anti-aircraft firing practice will be carried out between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 12 midnight on 20th December, 1939.

Alternative date-21st December, 1939.

Firing Area "B" will be affected.

4. In accordance with sub-section 4 of section 4 of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, masters of vessels and pilots of aircraft exempt from the operation of this Ordinance under section 10, are warned to assist in the carrying out of the firing practice by hastening through the firing area affected, or by consenting to be towed out of the firing area, if necessary, by any vessel acting under the orders of the Military Authorities.

NOTICES TO MARINERS.

No. 256/1939.

With reference to Notice to Mariners No. 18/1939 of the 26th January, 1939, the vessel reported sunk in a position approx. Lat. 23° 16′ 00′′ N. Long. 121° 33′ E. and dangerous to navigation is just westward of a line joining the western extremities of Shetung and the Islet one mile north of San Shi.

The vessel is apparently lying on an even keel in a N. 74W and S. 74E direction with both masts showing, and also at about two hours before Low Water Springs one derrick crutch forward of the foremast is showing. The mainmast appears to be at a slight angle and may carry away at any moment.
