An Ordinance to amend the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869.
BE it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Promissory Oaths Amendment Ordinance, 1939.
2. Section 5 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended----

(a) by the repeal of the words "oath of allegiance and
in the first line;
words
(b) by the insertion of the word first between the

his " and acceptance in the third line.

3. Section 6 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the insertion of the word first between the words "his" and acceptance" in the third line.
4. Sub-section (2) of section 7 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the addition of the following words after the word Governor' at the end thereof-
or other person lawfully presiding ".
5. Section 8 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the addition of the following words after the word Governor at the end thereof- or other person lawfully presiding ".
6. The Schedule to the Promissory Oaths Ordinance is Schedule for repealed and the following Schedule is substituted therefor :-
