PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.

No. 8. 413.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for Air Raid Precautions School at Happy Valley ", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 28th day of August, 1939. The work consists of site formation and erection of a Brick and Con- crete Building.

As security for the proper performance of the works under this contract, the successful tenderer will be required to deposit, in cash, a sum of $3,000 with the Accountant-General.

Any tenderer may be required as a condition of the consideration or acceptance of his tender to supply full particulars of the constitution of his firm.

No work will be permitted on Sundays.

For form of tender, specification and further particulars apply to the Office of Messrs. Leigh & Orange, P. & O. Building.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for The Re-alignment of Open Cut for Storm-water--Lai Chi Kok", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Tuesday, the 5th day of September, 1939. The work comprises excavation in rock and earth and the construction of an open channel in cement concrete together with contingent works.

As security for the proper performance of the works under this contract, the successful tenderer will be required to deposit, in cash, a sum of $1,000 with the Accountant-General.
