No. S. 411.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for the purchase of Locomotive Ashes", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until noon of Monday, the 28th day of August, 1939, on behalf of the Kowloon-Canton Railway.
The ashes are unscreened as discharged from Locomotive grates, and the average monthly quantity is 624 cubic metres.

No tender will be considered unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited with the Accountant-General the sum of $25 as pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person shall refuse to carry out his tender, should his tender be accepted.
Tender forms and full particulars can be obtained on application to the Railway Offices, Kowloon.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the highest or any tender.

HONG KONG VOLUNTEER DEFENCE CORPS, Headquarters, Hong Kong.
No. S. 412.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which must be clearly marked "Tender for Matsheds, Provisions, Stores, etc., Fanling Camp", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 4th day of September, 1939, for the supply and erection of Matsheds and the provision of Supplies, Stores, Labour, Messing, including the supply of Dining Tables, Forms, etc. The whole of the foregoing will be required by the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps during the period of their Annual Camps from 8th to 12th November and again from 15th to 19th November, 1939.
Each Tenderer must produce with his tender a receipt for the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150), which he has deposited with the Accountant-General, as a pledge of the bona fides of his tender. This deposit will be returned to the Tenderer later, whether his tender is accepted or not.
The successful Tenderer will be required to deposit the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) with the Accountant-General, which sum will be forfeited to the Crown should the Tenderer refuse, or fail, to carry out to the satisfaction of the Government the whole or any part of the tender which may be accepted. The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
Forms of tender and further particulars may be had on application to the Adjutant, Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, Garden Road.
