No. 1219-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under section 9 of the regulations of the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, to make the following appointment in the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force :-
To be Acting Sub-Lieutenant.
CEDRIC ARTHUR LACY RICKETT, Esquire, with effect from 18th November, 1939.

No. 1220.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve the follow- ing appointments to an Auxiliary Unit of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from the 16th day of December, 1939:-
Captain IVAN BERNARD TREVOR.
Captain JOHN PATRICK SHERRY.
Lieutenant JAMES SMITII.
Lieutenant ARTHUR EDWARD PERRY.
Lieutenant WALTER CHARLES CLARK.
The above officers will retain the seniority of their first appointment to the Corps.

No. 1221.-His Excellency the Governor, under instructions received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, has been pleased to recognize Mr. WHITNEY YOUNG, temporarily as Consul of the United States of America at Hong Kong.

No. 1222-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under section 3 of the Dentistry Ordinance, 1914, Ordinance No. 16 of 1914, Dr. CYRIL HERBERT BURTON to be a Member of the Dental Board for a further period of three years, with effect from 1st January, 1940.

No. 1223.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Mr. JAMES ROGER GODFREY WYATT to act as Nautical Surveyor and Examiner of Masters and Mates, with effect from the 1st January, 1940.
