An Ordinance to amend the Promissory Oaths Ordinance,

1869.

[17th November, 1939.]

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Promissory Oaths Amendment Ordinance, 1939.

2. Section 5 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended-

(a) by the repeal of the words "oath of allegiance and the in the first line;

(b) by the insertion of the word first between the words his and acceptance in the third line.

3. Section 6 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the insertion of the word "first" between the words his and acceptance in the third line.

4. Sub-section (2) of section 7 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the addition of the following words after the word "Governor at the end thereof- "or other person lawfully presiding ".
