ORDINANCE No. 9 of 1897. (VAGRANCY).

I, Sir GEOFFRY ALEXANDER STAFFORD NORTHCOTE, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in- Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same, in exercise of the powers con- ferred upon me by section 3 of the Vagrancy Ordinance, 1897, DO HEREBY CERTIFY a portion of the premises previously known as Victoria Gaol to be a House of Detention AND I APPOINT the person for the time being performing the functions of Superintendent of Prisons to be the Superintendent of the said House of Detention.

Given under my hand this 19th day of October, 1939.

ALIENS).

I, Sir GEOFFRY ALEXANDER STAFFORD NORTHCOTE. Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in- Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same, in exercise of the powers con- ferred upon me by section 15 of the Deportation of Aliens Ordinance, 1935, DO HEREBY APPOINT a portion of the buildings previously known as Victoria Gaol to be a House of Detention for the purpose of the said Ordinance AND 1 APPOINT the person for the time being performing the functions of Superintendent of Prisons to be the Superin- tendent of the said House of Detention.
