No. 953.-It is hereby notified that during the absence from the Colony of Mr. KATSUO OKAZAKI, Consul-General for Japan at Hong Kong, Mr. TAKTO ODA will be in charge of the Japanese Consulate-General.

No. 954. Ilis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve that Second Lieutenant CHARLES RAYMOND STODDART be allowed to resign his commission in the IIong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 2nd October, 1939.

No. 955.- His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve that Captain. JAMES FRANCIS WRIGHT be allowed to resign his commission in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 3rd October, 1939.

ORDINANCE No. 38 of 1932. (PRISONS).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Prisons Ordinance, 1932, His Excellency the Governor is pleased to order and it is hereby ordered that a portion of the buildings previously known as Victoria Gaol, be set apart for the purpose of a prison under the above Ordinance and be designated the Victoria Gaol Remand Prison.
