Order.
WHEREAS it is provided in regulation 2 (1) of the Defence Regulations. 1939, that essential services " means such services as may for the time being be declared by order of the Governor to be of public utility or to be essential for the prosecution of the war or essential for the life of the community:
NOW I. Sir GEOFFRY ALEXANDER STAFFORD NORTHCOTE, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice- Admiral of the same, DO HEREBY DECLARE the following services to be essential services for the purpose of the said Regulations:-
1. all Government undertakings:
2. all undertakings, whether public or private. for- (a) the supply of water, heat, light, power or refrigera- tion:
(b) the transmission of messages by telegraph, telephone or radio;
(c) the transport of persons or things by land, sea or air; (d) the care of the sick or injured.
