(ii) the following paragraph is inserted as paragraph (b)—

(b) Commencement of the war' means as respects any alien enemy the date of the proclamation of the Governor to the effect that war has broken out between His Majesty and the state of which the alien enemy is a subject, unless any earlier date is indicated in the proclamation, and in that case, such earlier date;

(iii) the following paragraph is sub- stituted for paragraph (c)-

(c) 'Custodian' means the person ap- pointed by the Governor under section 13

of the Trading with the Enemy Ordinance, Ordinance 1914, to be Custodian of enemy property No. 25 of or, until such appointment has been made. the Official Receiver;

(iv) paragraphs (f), (g). (h) and (j) are renumbered as (e), (f), (g) and (h) respec- tively:

(v) the following paragraph is added as paragraph ()-

(i) The war' means any war after the commencement of this Ordinance between His Majesty and any foreign state."

(3) Section 4 the following sub-section is sub-

stituted for sub-section (5)—

(5) All permissions and licences pre- viously given to any person in the Colony shall absolutely cease and determine on the date on which he becomes an alien

enemy.
