It is hereby notified for the information of the public that the subjoined Chinese Customs Notification has been brought to the attention of the Postmaster General.

A copy of the embargo list referred to in the Notification may be inspected at the General Post Office.

CUSTOMS NOTIFICATION No. 335.

EMBARGO ON FOREIGN IMPORTS.

The public is hereby notified that, in accordance with Government instructions, importations and interport move- ments, including postal parcels, of foreign goods under Import Tariff headings as per appendix to this Notification are pro- hibited, unless covered by special purchase permits to be issued by the Ministry of Finance, but that interport shipment of such prohibited goods is permitted on production of satis- factory proof that import duty leviable thereon was paid prior to enforcement of the embargo at port of entry which at the time of payment of duty was under Government control.

Pending the receipt of further instructions which are being solicited from the Government, the above embargo is to take effect on and from the 18th July, 1939, but goods on the embargo list which have already passed Hokow prior to the 18th July. 1939, may be permitted to be imported.
