No. 641.-His Majesty the KING has not been advised to exercise his power of disallowance with respect to the following Ordinances :—
Ordinance No. 20 of 1939.-An Ordinance for the promotion of the health,
safety, convenience and general welfare of the community by making provision for the syste- matic preparation and approval of plans for the future lay-out of existing and potential urban areas as well as for the types of building suitable for erection therein.
Ordinance No. 27 of 1939.—An Ordinance to amend the Dangerous Goods
Ordinance, 1873.

No. 642.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Mr. JOHN COLEMAN CHARTER, A.R.I.B.A., to be an Architect, Public Works Department, with effect from 2nd August, 1939.

No. 643.-Ilis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. JOHN HENRY BURKILL LEE to be the Chief Assistant to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs, with effect from the 4th August, 1939.

No. 644. His Excellency the Governor has approved the relinquishment of the appointment of Lieutenant-Commander REGINALD ROBERT HELBERT, R.N., as his Honorary Aide-de-Camp, with effect from 14th August, 1939.

No. 645.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Lieutenant JOHN PAUL GUNNER, R.N., to be his Honorary Aide-de-Camp, with effect from 14th August, 1939.

No. 646.—It is hereby notified that during the absence on leave of Dr. FRANS ALBERT VAN WOERDEN, Acting Consul-General for the Netherlands at Hong Kong, Mr. Duco GERRIT EDUARD MIDDELBURG, Consul, will be in charge of the Netherlands Consulate-General.
