ORDINANCE No. 10 of 1899. (MERCIANT SHIPPING).

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 38 (2) and sub-sections (1) and (2) of Section 42 of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, the Governor in Council amends Table F in the regulations made under the said Ordinance and published on page 319 of the Regulations of Hong Kong (1937 Edition).

1. The heading thereto is rescinded and the following substituted therefor :-

Regulations and conditions limiting the number of pas- sengers which may be carried on River Steamers.

2. Regulation 6 is rescinded and the following regulations. are added:

6.-(1) On the lower deck one passenger shall be conditions deducted for each 6 superficial feet and on the upper deck for carrying one passenger shall be deducted for each 9 superficial feet etc. where part of the deck is used for live stock (including fish) or cargo.

(2) Where part of the deck is used for live stock (includ- ing fish) or cargo such part shall be separated from the space intended to be occupied by passengers by means of expanded metal or other barriers not less effective so constructed as to prevent excreta and other liquid refuse from flowing or being carried into the space occupied by live stock (including fish) and cargo and also to prevent liquid from fruit or vegetables, cattle excreta or other liquid refuse flowing or being carried into the space intended to be occupied by passengers.
