No. 626.—His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the Honourable Mr. ROLAND ARTHUR CHARLES NORTH to act as Colonial Secretary, with effect from the 4th August, 1939, until further notice.

No. 627.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under Regulation 9 of the Regulations made under the Female Domestic Service Ordinance, No. 1 of 1923, to appoint Miss YIP CHI SHUE (1), Miss MARJORIE SEK KHIM TAN () and Miss BERNADETTE CHAN () to be Inspectors of Muitsai with effect from 1st August, 1939.

No. 628.- His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint THOMAS WALTER WARE, M. B., Ch. B. (Bristol), D. P. H. (London) to act as Deputy Director of Health Services, pending the arrival of the Deputy Director of Health Services, with effect from the 1st August, 1939.

No. 629.- His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following appointments in the Hong Kong Police Reserve, with effect from the 28th July, 1939:-
Mr. CYRIL CHAMPKIN to be Honorary Commissioner. Mr. OSCAR EAGER to be Deputy Superintendent.
Mr. T'so TSUN-ox to be Adjutant.

No. 630.- In accordance with regulation 8 of the Regulations as to grant, forfei- ture, restoration and other matters concerning The Efficiency Medal in regard to the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, published as Notification No. 579 in the Gazette of 2nd August, 1935, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to authorize the following award :—
