APPOINTMENTS, &c.
No. 528.-It is hereby notified that during the absence from the Colony of Mr. AKIYOSHI TAJIRI, Consul-General for Japan at Hong Kong, Mr. TAKTO ODA will be in charge of the Japanese Consulate-General.

No. 529. With reference to Gazette Notification No. 36 published in Government Gazette No. 3 of 13th January, 1939, the following member has been added to the Nutrition Research Committee :-
The Superintendent, Botanical and Forestry Department.

No. 530. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint a Town. Planning Board whose functions will be
(a) to draw up zone-schemes and other town plans as advised by the Housing Commission, such schemes and plans to be published for criticism and thereafter submitted to the Governor in Council for approval;
(b) to carry out such schemes as and when approved; and
(c) to undertake the census work advised by the Housing Commission.
The following gentlemen will constitute this Board:-
The Chairman of the Urban Council, Chairman. The Honourable the Director of Public Works. A senior officer of the Corps of Royal Engineers. The Labour Officer.
The Land Officer.
Mr. Wilfred Herbert Owen*.
Mr. Colin Brown Robertson.
The Honourable Mr. Leo D'Almada e Castro, Jr.
Mr. Alexander Somerled Mackichan.
The Honourable Mr. William Ngartse Thomas Tam.
Mr. Joseph Mow-lam Wong.
Mr. Richard John Vernall, temporarily in place of Mr. W. H. Owen.
The Secretary to the Board will be the Secretary to the Urban Council.
