ORDINANCE No. 12 of 1939. (REGISTRATION OF PERSONS).

WHEREAS it is provided by sub-section (2) of section 2 of the Registration of Persons Ordinance, 1939, among other things that every alien, other than an alien of Chinese race, who changes his ordinary residential or business address or who is about to leave the Colony shall report the fact in person or in writing for registration at the Registration of Persons Office, Police Department, within one week before every such change of address or intended departure, as the case may be:

AND WHEREAS it is provided by section 10 of the said Ordinance, among other things, that the Governor in Council may by notification in the Gazette direct that all or any of the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 2 shall (subject to certain exemptions) apply and have effect in the case of British subjects in all respects as they apply and have effect in the case of aliens.

NOW THEREFORE the Governor in Council hereby notifies and directs that so much of the provisions of sub- section (2) of section 2 of the Registration of Persons Ordinance, 1939, as requires an alien, other than an alien of Chinese race, who changes his ordinary residential or business address or who is about to leave the Colony, to report the fact in person or in writing for registration at the Registration of Persons Office, Police Department, within one week before every such change of address or intended departure, as the case may be, shall apply to and have effect in the case of every British subject who has made and signed a return of particulars under the said Ordinance.
