No. 289. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under section 9 (3) of the Liquors Ordinance, 1931, and section 25 (4) of the Interpretation Ordinance, 1931, to appoint the Honourable the Attorney General to be Vice-Chairman of the Licensing Board for a period of three years, with effect from 9th April, 1939.

No. 290.-With reference to Government Notification No. 212 of the 17th March, 1939, it is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has declared Mr. PHILIP STANLEY CASSIDY, J.P., pursuant to an election duly held in that behalf, to be a Member of the Licensing Board during the absence from the Colony of Mr. GEOFFREY SAMUEL ARCHBUTT, J.P.

13th April, 1939.

No. 291.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Mr. FREDERICK SHANKS, B.Sc. (Civil Engineering) P.A.S.I., Chartered Surveyor, to be an Assistant Assessor of Rates, with effect from the 12th April, 1939.

No. 292. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Mr. COLIN MITCHELL MCEWAN to be a Physical Training Supervisor, Education Department, with effect from 12th April, 1939.

No. 293.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Mr. WILLIAM GEORGE RUSSELL COATES to be an Assistant Government Surveyor (Engiucer and Ship Surveyor), Harbour Department, with effect from the 12th April, 1939.

No. 294.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under section 4 of the Midwives Ordinance, 1910, Ordinance No. 22 of 1910, to appoint Dr. GEORGE DUNCAN RALPH BLACK, O.B.E., to be a Member of the Midwives Board for a term of three years, with effect from the 12th April, 1939.
