ORDINANCE No. 38 of 1932. (PRISONS).

In exercise of the Powers conferred by section 17 of the Prisons Ordinance, 1932, the Governor in Council amends the Rules made under section 18 of the Prisons Ordinance, 1899, Ordinance No. 4 of 1899, appearing on pages 181 to 257 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925, as amended by the Rule made on the 7th May, 1931, published as Government Notification No. 288 in the Gazette of the 15th May, 1981, as follows:-

Amendment.

The first paragraph under the heading of DIETARIES in the said Rule is deleted and the following is substituted therefor :-

The diets of prisoners shall be in accordance with the following scales and instructions: Provided, wherever tea, cocoa, chicken, cheese or chutney appear in any of the said diets, that the inclusion in the diets of such articles shall be deemed to be privileges only and intentionally so included as rewards for good conduct, and that one or more of such articles may be withdrawn by the Superintendent from the diet of any prisoner for a breach of prison discipline for periods of seven, fourteen or twenty one days subject to a right of appeal against such withdrawal to the Commissioner.
