No. 114. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the Honourable Mr. LEO D'ALMADA E CASTRO, Jr., and the Reverend Father GEORGE BYRNE to be Members of the Board of Education for a further period of two years, with effect from the 12th and 27th February, 1939, respectively.

No. 115. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies to appoint Mr. JAMES FRANCIS BURFORD, B.A. (Cantab.), A.M.I.C.E., to be an Engineer, Public Works Depart- ment, with effect from 3rd February, 1939.

No. 116. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under the provisions of section 10 of the Medical Registration Ordinance, 1935, Ordinance No. 41 of 1935, Professor LINDSAY TASMAN RIDE, M.A., M.D., B.Ch., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., to be a Member of the Medical Board for a term of three years, with effect from 6th February, 1939.

No. 117.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint LAURENCE JOHN HONEYWILL, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Lond.), F.R.C.S. (Eng.), M.B., B.S. (Lond.), to be a Medical Officer, with effect from the 2nd February, 1939.

No. 118.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve the following promotion in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 25th January, 1939:

Lance Corporal ENEAS LUCIANO CUNIA to be Second Lieutenant.

No. 119.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under section 9 of the regulations of the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, to appoint DAVID Scott Robb, Esquire, C.A., to be an Acting Paymaster-Sub-Lieutenant in the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, with effect from 2nd February, 1939.

No. 120. It is hereby notified that during the absence on leave of Mr. AKIYOSHI TAJIRI, Consul-General for Japan at Hong Kong, Mr. TAKIO ODA will be in charge of the Japanese Consulate-General.
