Dredging Operations in the Hai Ho.

NOTICE is hereby given that dredging operations will be carried out in the Stone

Reach.

Masters of Steamers are requested to warn the dredger at work of their approach by one long blast on the whistle to be given in time to permit of the dredger's moorings being tended and they are also requested to pass the dredger at the slowest speed possible.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO MARINERS, No. 516.

SHANGHAI DISTRICT.

Yangtze River Langshan Crossing.

Channel Re-sonunded; Directions.

REFERRING to Special Notice to Mariners No. 515, notice is hereby given that the reported shoaling of the Langshan Crossing. Yangtze River, has been verified by a re- sounding of the channel.

This shoaling has taken place at the upper end of the Crossing from the Lower Crossing Buoy to about 1 mile above the Upper Crossing Buoy. The least water found was 20 feet at low water of extraordinary spring tides. During the present high-water season of the Yangtze River, however, the least water that may be expected at low water of spring tides is 23 feet.
