No. S. 232.--It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in duplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for making Tree Pits, planting Trees, and sowing Seeds in situ", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Saturday, the 28th September, 1918.
For form of tender apply at the Colonial Secretary's Office.
For specification and further particulars apply at this Office.
No tender will be considered unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $100 as a pledge of the bonâ fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if such person shall refuse to carry out his tender, should his tender be accepted.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

No. S. 233.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in duplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tenders for Improving Road from Shaukiwan to Taitam Gap", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 30th day of September, 1918, for improving the existing road from Shaukiwan to Taitam Gap.
No work will be permitted on Sundays.

The Astronomical positions are only approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are given both True and Magnetic, and those relating to lights are from seaward, The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The eleration given is the height of focal plane above high water.

Clarence Strait.
Marsh Shoal Buoy To be replaced by Light Buoy.
MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the Spherical Buoy moored on the western side of Marsh Shoal will be replaced by a Light Buoy, showing a group flashing white light, on or about 12th August, 1918.
Position. The Light Buoy will be moored in about 15 fathoms of water off the north-western end of Marsh Shoal, about three cables north-west of the existing red and white horizontally-striped Spherical Buoy surmounted by a black staff and globe, which it will replace. Position will be approximately
Lat. 12° 05' S.; Long, 130° 56′ E. on Chart 1095.
