HARBOUR NOTIFICATION.

No. 10 of 1918.

Taku Bar Channel: Regulations for Natice Vessels.

NOTICE is hereby given that the channel in which dredgers are operating is intended. for steam ships requiring deep water and that trading junk masters and fishermen should not proceed through it but should pass inwards or outwards when the tide is high enough to permit them to do so well clear of the steam ship channel.

Any junk master who in proceeding through the channel, grounds with his junk and thereby causes damage to the channel, or causes delay to steam traffic, or contributes to accident, will be dealt with as having infringed the Regulations.

Further, junk masters are informed they may not anchor at any point in the channels in such a manner as to interfere with a clear view of the beacons and lights being obtained by yessels navigating the channels, or to anchor in such a manner as to in any way obstruct the fairway.

If called upon while at anchor at any time to shift their position by an Officer of the Customs, they must do so at once. Failing compliance they will be dealt with as having infringed the Regulations.

HARBOUR NOTIFICATION.

No. 2 of 1918.

DURING the time of strong current those in charge of Native small-craft experience great difficulty in managing their boats with safety.

Steam and motor launches travelling at high speed raise a wash which greatly adds to the dangers besetting these small boats.

A Local Notice to Mariners has already been issued to motor and steam vessels to travel at a low speed through the Harbour during the time of freshet. They are now hereby again notified that these instructions must be obeyed. The safety of the small craft on the river demands consideration.
