Port Pirie-Establishment of Time Ball.

MASTERS of Vessels and others are hereby informed that a Time Ball has been established on the Flagstaff at the Harbormaster's Residence, Port Pirie, and will be dropped daily (Sundays and holidays excepted) at 1 p.m. standard zone time, for longitude 142° 30′ E., and corresponding to 15 hours 30 minutes Greenwich mean time.

The Ball will be hosited half-way up the topmast at 12 hours 55 minutes, to the mast- head at 12 hours 57 minutes, and dropped exactly at 1 p.m., the instant of the Ball commencing to drop being the time to he noted.

In the event of the Ball from any cause failing to drop at the correct time, it will be lowered slowly, or should it drop before the correct time, it will be hoisted again and lowered slowly, and whenever this happens the Ball will be hoisted half-mast at 1 hour 55 minutes, mastheaded at 1 hour 57 minutes, and dropped at 2 p.m., corresponding to 16 hours 30 minutes Greenwich mean time.
