ORDINANCE No. 10 of 1899. (MERCHANT SHIPPING).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 39 (17) and (18) of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance No. 10 of 1899, it is hereby notified that junks, sampans and other vessels, unless engaged on Government duty, are hereby prohibited from anchoring or mooring in the following places; nor shall any such vessel approach any of the following places :-

(1) That portion of the seawall for a distance of 30 feet measured from each side of the Whitfield Road Conservancy Junk Pier.

(2) That portion of the seawall for a distance of 50 feet measured from the east side of the Water Street Steps.

(3) The west side of Tonnochy Road Government Pier.

WAR REVENUE ORDINANCE, 1940.

It is notified for the information of property owners and others concerned that Demand Notices for property tax payable under Chapter II of the above Ordinance are now being issued in respect of all lands and/or buildings in the following urban areas :-

Urban Area, Tai Po.

Urban Area, Yuen Long.

The Tax in respect of the Urban Area, Tai Po, is payable at the District Office, North, Tai Po, and the Tax in respect of the Urban Area, Yuen Long, is payable at the Land Office, Ping Shan, not later than 28th February, 1941, after which date penalties may be incurred.

Any person liable to tax on property situated within the above mentioned urban areas who has not received a Demand Notice by 15th January, 1941, should inquire at the above mentioned offices.

Claims for refund of tax in respect of property un- occupied during one or more entire months of the current year of assessment (1st April, 1940-31st March, 1941) may he lodged with the War Taxation Department, Unit II, care of the District Office, North, Tai Po, and the Land Office, Ping Shan, after 31st March, 1941.
