No. 1222.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to make, under regulation 9 of the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, the following appointments in the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force :-

To be Acting Sub-Lieutenants.

LEWIS WILLIAM Busп, Esquire, with effect from 17th October, 1940. HENRY CLAUDE GLOVER, Esquire, with effect from 21st October, 1940. PERCY JOHN POOLE, Esquire, with effect from 21st October, 1940. TERENCE MURRAY MILNE, Esquire, with effect from 29th October, 1940.

No. 1223. His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has approved the relinquishment by Acting Lieutenant DENIS HENRY HAZELL of his commission in the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, as from 30th April, 1940.

No. 1224.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government hasapproved the relinquishment by Acting Lieutenant ERNEST WILDE FIELDING of his commission in the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, as from 25th August, 1940.

ORDINANCE No. 32 of 1939. (COMPULSORY SERVICE).

His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased, pursuant to Section 11 (7) of the Com- pulsory Service Ordinance, 1939, to permit the following persons to quit the Hong Kong Defence Reserve:--

Elms, Albert Arthur, with effect from 25th July, 1940. Smith, Louis, with effect from 31st October, 1940. Ivanchenko, Boris, with effect from 4th November, 1940. Forman, Cedric, with effect from 5th November, 1940.
