MEDICAL DEPARTMENT.

No. 1163.-Government Notification No. 322 in Gazette No. 18 of the 20th April, 1934, as amended by Government Notification No. 533 in Gazette No. 29 of the 30th June, 1939, is hereby cancelled and the following substituted therefor:

The Scale of charges for medical treatment in Government Hospitals as from 1st November, 1940, inclusive, will be as follows:-

Children under twelve years of age will be charged at half the foregoing rates in each class.

Naval, Military and Air Force patients and Government pensioners will be charged in accordance with the above scale.

Proprietary medicines or drugs not contained in the British Pharmacopoeia will be charged for if supplied by the Government Medical Department. Private patients, other than Government, Naval, Military or Air Force patients, charged 1st or 2nd class daily rates for maintenance, will be subject to the following additional charges :-

(1) For medical attendance, a charge at the rate of one third of the rate for

maintenance.

(2) For surgical operations :-

(a) Major operations-$50 (minimum) to $600 (maximum) at the discre-

tion of the Director of Medical Services.

(b) Minor operations $25 (minimum) to $100 (maximum) at the discre-

tion of the Director of Medical Services.

This charge will be in addition to the charge for medical attendance. (3) For normal maternity cases, charges of $200 and $100 respectively, in lieu

of the above charge for medical attendance.
