No. 1072.-It is hereby notified that the Honourable Mr. HENRY ROBERT BUTTERS resumed duty as Financial Secretary, with effect from 26th September, 1940.

27th September, 1940.

No. 1073.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint provisionally, and subject to His Majesty's pleasure, Mr. THOMAS ERNEST PEARCE to be temporarily an Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council in place of Sir HENRY EDWARD POLLOCK, Kt., K.C., LL.D., who is temporarily absent from the Colony, with effect from 27th September, 1940.

No. 1074.-It is notified for general information that Mr. F. FLIPPANCE, F.L.S., Superintendent, Botanical and Forestry Department is also Agricultural Adviser for the Colony. Matters concerning agriculture and agricultural development generally should be referred to him.

24th September, 1940.

No. 1075.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Miss JOAN CAWLEY EAGER to be a Nursing Sister, on probation, with effect from 11th September, 1940.

26th September, 1940.

No. 1076.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to approve the following promotions in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 10th September, 1940:--

Sergeant RICHARD EDWARDS to be Second Lieutenant.

Sergeant JOHN REDMAN to be Second Lieutenant.

No. 1077.-It is hereby notified that during the absence on leave of Mr. WALLACE J. HANSEN, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Finland at Hong Kong, Mr. B. HERSCHEND will be in charge of the Finland Consulate.

26th September, 1940.

No. 1078.-It is hereby notified that Mr. JOHN KEITH BOUSFIELD, M.C., resumed duty as Organizer of the General Group for Essential Services in the Hong Kong Defence Reserve.
