ORDINANCE No. 38 of 1939. (ESSENTIAL
COMMODITIES RESERVES).
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 16 of the Essential Commodities Reserves Ordinance, No. 38 of 1939, and section 4 of the Stamp Ordinance, No. 8 of 1921, the Governor in Council makes the following regulation, to be added to the regulations made under the said Ordinance No. 38 of 1939 and published in the Gazette of 10th November, 1939, as Government Notification 1033, as subsequently amended
17. Any instrument or other document executed by any person who satisfies the Collector of Stamp Revenue that the document is necessary for the purpose of complying with a condition imposed under section 7 (3) of the Essential Com- modities Reserves Ordinance, 1939, shall be exempt from stamp duty under the Stamp Ordinance, 1921.

It is hereby declared by Order of His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government in Council that Shanghai is a place where an infectious or contagious disease, namely, cholera, prevails.
