In exercise of the powers conferred on him by regula- tion 32 of the Defence Regulations, 1939, His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government makes the following order, in the interests of defence and for maintaining supplies and services essential to the life of the community-
Order.
The premises described in the Schedule to this order are hereby declared to be protected places for the purposes of the Defence Regulations, 1939.
Permission to enter or be in any premises to which this order applies may be given by the occupier or a person deputed by him or, if the occupier is a Government depart- ment, by a person deputed by the head of that department.

SCHEDULE.
A. TELEPHONE EXCHANGES.
L The Hong Kong Telephone Company. Limited's exchanges in Hong Kong-
(1) Central Exchange, 4th and 5th floors and roof of Exchange Building, 14 Des Vœux Road Central, also the rear section of the basement of this building;
(2) Peak Exchange, between Plunkett's Road and Stubbs Road. the buildings on Rural Building Lot No. 47, Nos. 118 and 119 The Peak;
(8) Repulse Bay Exchange, Beach Road near junction with Island Road, the buildings on Rural Building Lot No. 429;
(4) Stanley Exchange, upper side of Stanley Beach Road, the buildings on Rural Building Lot No. 480;
(5) Bank Exchange, in the north-west section of the basement of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation's buildings situated between Queen's Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central.
II. The Hong Kong Telephone Company, Limited's exchanges in Kowloon and the New Territories—
(1) Kowloon Exchange, the buildings and yard on the western side of Nathan Road between Waterloo Road and Pitt Street com- prising Kowloon Inland Lot No. 754;
(2) Taipo Exchange at the junction of Shung Tak and Yan Hing Streets, Demarcation District No. 6, Lot No. 1168;
(3) Fanling Exchange, nearby Fanling Cross Roads, Demar- cation District No. 51, Lot No. 4624;
(4) Tsun Wan Exchange, north side of Castle Peak Road near milestone No. 8/48 and opposite the road leading to The Texas Company (China), Limited's installation.
