No. 430.—lis Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under section 9 of the regulations of the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force, to make the following appoint- ments in the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force :---

To be Acting Sub-Lieutenants.

FRANK CECIL MANNING, Esquire, with effect from 1st September, 1939. HERBERT ERNEST BREWER, Esquire, with effect from 20th March, 1940. Patrick Elliott Youno, Esquire, with effect from 20th March, 1940.

No. 431. With reference to Government Notification No. 840 published in the Gazette of 22nd September, 1939, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Captain LEVESON GRANVILLE BYRON ALEXANDER CAMPBELL, D.S.O., R.N. (Rtd.), to be a Member of the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Reference Board, with effect from 17th April, 1940, vice Captain FRANCIS CYRIL FLYNN, R.N, resigned.

No. 432. It is hereby notified that during the absence from the Colony of Signor GENNARO PAGANO DI MELITO, Consul-General for Italy at Hong Kong, Signor GIUSEPPE Ros, Italian Cousul in Canton will be in temporary charge of the Italian Consulate- General.

No. 433. -His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under section 3 of the Dentistry Ordinance, 1914, Ordinance No. 16 of 1914, Dr. Russell GloveR SHANNON to be a Member of the Dental Board, during the absence from the Colony of Dr. CYRIL HERBERT BURTON, with effect from 13th April, 1940.

No. 434.-It is hereby notified for general information that the Kingdom of Denmark, excluding the Kingdom of Iceland, the dependency of Greenland and the Faroe Islands, is territory in the occupation of a lower with whom His Majesty is at war and is therefore "Enemy territory" for all purposes under the Trading with the Enemy legislation. With regard to individuals, however, nationals of Denmark are not to be treated, at present, as enemy nationals.
