ROYAL OBSERVATORY,
No. 416.The public is requested not to call the Observatory by telephone when typhoon signals No. 5 to No. 10 are hoisted. The telephone is in constant use by Observatory officials at such times.
Typhoon signals are displayed at the following places :-
The Royal Observatory.
The Signal Hill, Kowloon.
The Hong Kong & Kowloon Wharf & Godown Co.
The Hong Kong A Whampoa Dock Co.
The Harbour Office.
H.M.S. Tamar.
Green Island.
Lai-chi-kok.
Lyeemun.
Gongh Hill Police Station.
Star Ferry Wharves. (Notice boards). General Post Office. (Notice board). Kowloon Tong.
The latest information available is broadcast by ZBW on 845 kc/s (355 m) and by ZBW 3 on 9.52 me/s (31.49 m) telephony in English at I p.m. and 8 p.m. daily; by ZEK on 640 kc/s (468 m) telephony in Chinese at 1 p.m. and p.m. daily, and by ZBW 3 on 9.52 mc/s (31.49 m) telephony in Chinese at 7 p.m. daily; and by ZBW and ZEK in English and Chinese respectively at the 60th minute of any hour when Hong Kong is threatened.
In addition a Typhoon Warning Service has been established for its subscribers by the Hong Kong Telephone Company which undertakes to furnish information regarding the hoisting, changing and lowering of local typhoon signals at a charge of $10 per annum in respect of each line advised.
